bleeding for your art

Stephen Sagmeister is a very well-known graphic designer, made famous for his poster art- specifically one where he had an intern carve text into his chest and torso for this event (it took 8 hours):

But my favorite story of his is one wherein he postered the Lower East Side of Manhattan with these:



because his friend, Reini, was visiting from Austria and was concerned that New York women would be too cold or unimpressed to bother with him. Can't blame a guy for worrying about his game. But with friends like Sagmeister, you can have a welcoming committee before you even make your connecting flight in London. Fantastique!
